Here you will find information about current active research being carried out at the University of Birmingham in the multidisciplinary field of Nanotechnology.
Birmingham University is playing a leading role in this development, via the translation of scientific and technical advances in nanoscale science and engineering into new products and processes to support the growth of the high tech economy. The Nanoscale Physics Research Laboratory has played a leading role in the proposal to establish a £10 million+ Nanomaterials Centre associated with the new Longbridge Technology Park Development, providing high tech services for companies and functioning as a centre for training and applied research in nanotechnology.
In addition, Birmingham University has established collabroative links with many local, national and international companies, in order to solve scientific and engineering challenges in the micro / nano area, and looks forward to tachling new challenges with both established and new partners.
Nanotechnology has been identified in the Birmingham University Research Strategy as one of four Key Enabling Technologies, that are view as a crucial for development of research activities on campus.
